Our leadership team are responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of the company and for ensuring this is achieved in line with our vision and values. A team of dynamic individuals who together, bring extensive experience from a variety of technical backgrounds and industries. Our team lead with a growth and curious mindset with a focus on opportunity.

Liz is an action-oriented CEO, responsible for strategic guidance and direction for EMM and ensures our people and our company achieve our vision of being THE leading. Liz is highly intentional in the pursuit of developing people and processes to ensure we remain aligned to our purpose of ‘creating opportunities’ in accordance with our deep culture of behaviours and decisions based on humility, respect and integrity.

Joining the company in 2013 and a Director since 2016, Liz has amassed almost 30 years’ experience in science and engineering, and worked in consulting and the public sector in Australia and internationally.

She leads EMM with a central focus on people and creates an environment where the team feel empowered and engaged. Liz believes in the importance of professional and personal growth, and that courage and authenticity are required to develop, evolve and grow. Liz has strong beliefs that for teams and individuals to thrive as high performers they need to feel they have autonomy, a relatedness to those around them, and mastery and excellence in what they do. This is paramount to success. Diversity and inclusion in the workplace is a core belief for Liz and she leads with intention on creating diverse teams that will thrive together.

Randy Wong

Chief Financial Officer

As an integral member of EMM’s Executive Leadership team, Randy assumes the role of Chief Financial Officer, contributing significantly to the company’s strategic direction.

With a rich background in finance and operations, Randy has held senior roles at recognised firms, including KPMG, MinterEllison, Norton Rose Fulbright and GK Horizons.

Commencing his journey at EMM in 2023, Randy plays a pivotal role in steering the company's financial performance, aligning it seamlessly with strategic goals and growth agendas. His expertise spans various facets of finance, providing him with a unique perspective that he applies adeptly to his role as Chief Financial Officer.

One of Randy's key strengths lies in his ability to build high-performing teams, reflecting his passion for developing future leaders. As EMM continues its journey of growth and strategic excellence, Randy’s role as Chief Financial Officer is pivotal in ensuring the company's financial performance and contributing to its overarching success for the company, our people and our clients.

James Duggleby

Director, EMM in Canada

As a Director of EMM in Canada and a member of the Senior Leadership Group, James is leading EMM’s growth in Canada.

Since joining EMM in 2016, James has played a key role in the leadership of the water division with a particular focus on mentoring junior staff and providing principal level input to wide variety of projects.

James is a Canadian based hydrogeologist with two decades of experience in consulting and private sector roles in water resource evaluation and development in Australia, Africa, Canada, Europe, Middle East, and South America. His expertise includes management, design, and implementation of large-scale hydrogeological investigations for linear infrastructure, water supply, renewables (inc. pumped hydro), coal seam gas, and mining exploration and development whilst implementing and continually improving best environmental practice.

James holds a Master of Science (Hydrogeology), Master of Geology (Hons I), is a member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (Canadian Chapter) and is a Fellow of Geological Society of London. James is passionate about the opportunity to establish and grow our presence in Canada, and the prospect to combine our in-depth understanding of opportunities, challenges, and solutions from our international experience with our Canadian team’s local knowledge.

Duncan Peake

Executive Leader – Divisions & Advisory

Duncan is a Director and Executive Leader with key responsibilities in the oversight of division operations and leading our advisory experts. With over 20 years of work in planning and environmental projects across the board, Duncan has breadth and depth of experience in development type, project scope and industry sectors. He delivers strategic and on-the-ground advice to clients in energy generation and transmission, mining, transport and waste management.

Duncan has a detailed and comprehensive working knowledge of Commonwealth and State environmental legislation and its application in project approval and development to management planning and compliance. He provides strategic and expert advice on planning and environmental matters to clients from project conceptualisation to project completion and commissioning.

Duncan is passionate about the value that meaningful planning and environmental advice and technical inputs can add to society and the positive impacts it can achieve through genuine collaboration.

With his approachable and down-to-earth character, Duncan builds genuine connections across the company and with clients to create a culture of trust, collaboration, and mutual respect.

Nicole Armit

Executive Leader – Major Projects & Approvals

Nicole leads the strategic direction of EMM’s global teams delivering large-scale environmental and social impact assessments, ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation across all jurisdictions.

With more than two decades of experience, Nicole provides strategic clarity and direction in complex and high-impact settings, aligning people, capability and services to deliver on business and client priorities. Her ability to navigate regulatory complexity and anticipate market needs positions EMM to lead and influence in a rapidly evolving landscape.

She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Environmental Law from ANU. Nicole is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (Impact Assessment Specialist) and a registered NSW Environmental Assessment Practitioner.

Sarah Perry

Executive Leader – Technical Divisions

As Executive Leader Technical Divisions, Sarah leads the global growth and diversification of EMM’s specialist service areas. She is focused on ensuring our people have the depth, capability and insight to solve complex challenges and deliver high-quality outcomes for clients across sectors and geographies.

She plays a key role in shaping the direction of EMM’s capabilities, ensuring our services evolve in line with emerging client needs and industry expectations. Sarah champions a collaborative, high-performance culture that empowers teams to deliver innovative and practical solutions to the opportunities and challenges our clients face.

Sarah joined EMM in 2021 and has since held senior operational roles. Prior to EMM, Sarah was a member of the Senior Leadership Team at UK-based consultancy Temple, where she was responsible for major project delivery, marketing and health, safety and wellbeing and cross-team collaboration.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology (Hons) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Consultancy from the University of West England.

Nicole Torrance

Executive Leader – People, Culture & Safety

As a leader of our employee experience, Nicole’s role is to ensure the people agenda is front and centre in the development of business strategy and for the Executive Team, advocating opportunities that allow our team to grow both personally and professionally.

Nicole draws on over 20 years’ experience across multiple industries, from start-up to multinationals, to coach our People and Performance, Health Safety and Wellbeing and Business Services teams who provide exceptional corporate support and are central to enhancing the employee experience for our teams.

She promotes an environment which encourages our team to bring their whole self to work while also maintaining a focus on culture evolution and pragmatic business improvement. By fostering a culture of open communication, collaboration, and inclusivity, Nicole inspires her team to be more creative, productive, and engaged in their work.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Commerce, an Executive Diploma in Business Planning and is an accredited facilitator of Team Management Index and Myers Briggs Type Indicator.

Tanya Hatchman

Executive Leader – Marketing & Brand

As EMM’s Executive Leader Marketing & Brand, Tanya is responsible for setting the global marketing strategy and leading initiatives that strengthen brand reputation, build market presence and position EMM for long-term growth. With more than two decades experience in marketing and communications, she brings a focus on positioning, differentiation and market impact.

Tanya leads a collaborative team to deliver integrated campaigns and strategies that reinforce EMM’s reputation as a trusted advisor. An advocate for aligning brand and business strategy, she partners closely with leaders to ensure marketing is connected to strategic priorities and growth opportunities.

Tanya is a Certified Practising Marketer, a member of ICON (Influence, Collaboration and Opportunity Network) and a Queensland committee member of the Canadian Australia Chamber of Commerce.

 

Our division leaders oversee operational activities and play an integral role in the growth and direction of the business. They inspire and collaborate within and across our teams to achieve efficient operations, project delivery excellence and provide development opportunities for our people.

 

 

Duncan Peake

Division Leader – Advisory

As Division Leader, Duncan is responsible for shaping and elevating the impact of our advisory services. With over 25 years of work in planning and environmental projects, Duncan brings both breadth and depth of experience across development types, project scopes and industry sectors. He has worked extensively in energy generation and transmission, mining, and infrastructure providing trusted guidance from early project strategy through to approvals, implementation and compliance.

Duncan works with clients in the early development and conceptual phases of their projects as the desired outcomes are being framed. Using his detailed and comprehensive working knowledge of Commonwealth and State environmental legislation and its application in project approval processes, his advice combines technical rigour with commercial awareness, helping clients navigate complexity with clarity and confidence to achieve their goals.

He is passionate about the value that meaningful planning and environmental advice and technical inputs can add to society and the positive impacts it can achieve through genuine collaboration.

Antony Edenhofner

Division Leader – Ecology & Heritage

Nicole has 20 years of experience in environmental assessment and management. Her tertiary education in environmental engineering and environmental law provides a thorough grounding in the technical and regulatory complexities of assessments and approvals.

Nicole’s strategic project direction and business development role in EMM reflects her in-depth knowledge and experience in major projects across a range of sectors, particularly in mining and energy. As an advisor to a range of companies, she has successfully delivered numerous environmental assessments and approvals, as well as auditing and environmental management projects, in which she has shared her knowledge gathered from years of working on complex projects under state and Federal laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

Nicole has a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Hons), University of NSW and a Master of Environmental Law, ANU. She is also a Certified Environmental Practitioner (Impact Assessment Specialist) and is a registered NSW Environmental Assessment Practitioner.

Jackie Clifford

Division Leader – Spaces & Places

Jackie is a collaborative and solutions-focused leader who brings over 17 years of experience in consulting to her role as Division Leader – Spaces and Places. First joining EMM in 2015, Jackie now leads a multidisciplinary division united by a shared focus on how people interact with and experience the places around them.

Known for her commitment to innovation and operational efficiency, Jackie has supported complex projects across multiple sectors by developing tools and systems that enhance collaboration, streamline workflows, and improve project outcomes.

Jackie’s technical expertise spans spatial analysis, data management, web mapping, mobile data capture, and high-quality cartographic outputs. As Division Leader, she provides strategic direction for the division while fostering a culture of technical excellence, cross-disciplinary integration and a key focus on helping our clients solve their most important and complex challenges.

Jackie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Environmental Science.

Nicola Fry

Division Leader – Water & Land

Nicola is a dynamic and people-centric leader who is dedicated to driving growth and collaboration for our groundwater, surface water & land, and contaminated land teams. As a Division Leader and Senior Leadership Group member at EMM, Nicola provides strategic oversight, leads collaboration across disciplines, and builds successful client relationships.

Since joining EMM in 2016, Nicola has played an integral role in leading the groundwater team by focusing on engagement, streamlining business operations, and improving communication systems. Nicola's dedication to diversity, inclusion, flexibility, and innovation has created a supportive and collaborative work environment that empowers her team to reach their full potential.

With over 18 years of experience as a hydrogeologist and geologist, Nicola possesses a wealth of expertise in water quality and hydrogeological assessments, as well as the design and implementation of water management programs. Her experience spans a broad range of sectors, including oil and gas, energy, and international development assistance in Australia, South Pacific, Africa, and South America.

Nicola's skills as a science communicator have earned her a strong reputation with regulators, government officials, and community members alike.

Nicola holds a Master of Science Communication, a Master of Engineering Studies in Hydrogeology and Groundwater Management, and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Geology and Chemistry. She is a member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists.

David Snashall

Energy Market Leader

David is one of the leading Impact Assessment practitioners in Australia, with over 30 years’ experience in assessing the environmental, social, and economic impacts of major capital projects in Australia and globally.

In recent years David has focused on the energy transition in Australia, leading approval processes for solar farms, energy from waste, and wind farms.

Based in NSW now, but working nationally, earlier in his career David spent time working in WA, followed by more than a decade leading projects globally, and in senior management positions with The ERM Group, including Managing Director ANZ, and Global Practice Leader for Impact Assessment and Planning.

Verity Blair

Infrastructure and Construction Market Leader

Verity is a highly skilled environmental planner with over 25 years’ experience in Australia and the UK.

Verity has worked in a range of industry sectors including transport infrastructure, residential, commercial, tourism, health and telecommunications.

During a five-year secondment to WestConnex, Verity worked in post-approvals and was also responsible for the delivery of public open space and public art projects across WestConnex Transurban’s New M4 and New M5 Projects. Verity has recently worked on large infrastructure projects including Sydney Metro and the M7-M12 Motorway.

Verity has a wide range of experience in the preparation and management of environmental assessments in NSW under Major Projects and Parts 4 and 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, environmental management plans and strategies, constraints analyses and environmental planning advice.

Joel Georgiou

Mining Market Leader

Joel is currently the Mine Market Leader for EMM, a national role which involves leading EMM’s execution plan to deliver national significant projects for our clients across current and emerging sectors.

Joel is an experienced hydrogeologist, groundwater modeller and project manager with 22 years’ industry experience across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia. His key areas of expertise are in mining impact assessments, designing and implementing drilling programs, sustainable water management, monitoring programs, pumping tests, mitigation design and groundwater modelling (including solute transport and plume modelling) to inform various baseline studies and environmental impact assessments.

Joel has been a consultant to mining companies across various commodities and environments and worked in-house as a senior mining hydrogeologist. He has provided strategic advice, reporting and support on hydrogeological issues for operating mines and for project teams developing new mining prospects.
