EMM are seeking an Associate Groundwater Modeller to join our growing modelling team. We work on a diverse range of projects across mining and energy, requiring innovative approaches in a rapidly changing industry. We are strong advocates for the GMDSI, and utilise the PEST and PEST++ suite on every modelling project. In order to continue our growth, we are seeking a suitably experienced groundwater modeller who is looking to influence the technical direction of the team as well as provide mentoring and guidance to more junior team members. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of delivering a wide range of groundwater models within a consulting environment.

Our groundwater practice is led by industry-recognised hydrogeologists within an established and respected team. Added to this, our groundwater team runs a national delivery model, which exposes you to a range of challenging projects across Australia and internationally.

Here’s what you can expect 
  • You’ll collaborate with a range of professionals, including hydrogeologists, surface water experts, ecologists, and approvals specialists/planners to provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary water management solutions to unique project challenges.
  • Your role will see you working with clients and regulators to scope and plan groundwater modelling projects.
  • You’ll be responsible for conducting numerical groundwater flow modelling to support groundwater projects for a diverse range of clients, projects and markets, including mining, energy, and infrastructure.
  • You will be a key figure within our Groundwater team, providing mentoring and developing junior modellers.

Here’s what you'll bring to have impact 

  • A relevant Tertiary qualification in hydrogeology, geosciences, environmental science, engineering, or equivalent.
  • A wealth of experience in groundwater modelling, ideally in a consulting environment, or in an environment that requires delivering models to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Technical knowledge of hydrogeology, groundwater modelling and uncertainty workflows, with proficiency in relevant software packages (ideally MODFLOW or FEFLOW, Algomesh, the PEST and PEST++ suite, Leapfrog, Python, etc.)
  • Strong data management and conceptualisation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and desire to mentor others.
